About Copper Thread Coaching

The Whole Spool

If we had seen a preview of the past eight years as colleagues, friends and soul sisters,

I don’t think we would have believed a word.

The yarn sounds a little like this:

two badass business women on the move,
two falls from grace,
two dark nights of the soul,
two lost, two found, two lost again,
two deaths, two rebirths,
two fiery phoenixes on the rise and ready to start anew with ONE mission…

…to help women just like them, just as they did for each other.

You see, we were bonafide overachievers, card-carrying perfectionists and proud of it. You know the type; the ones who win prestigious awards, earn performance bonuses and amass promotions, the ones who are relied upon to come in early and stay late, fix what’s broken, save the day again and again, the strong ones who are expected to hold it all together at work, at home and everywhere in between.

From the outside, everything looked perfectly knitted together. Follow a different thread, the one tucked on the inside with the frayed edges, and you would have found two women who were totally burnt out and utterly exhausted, two women who put everyone and everything else above themselves, and were growing to resent it.

And do you want to know something funny? The paths we were on, the people we had become, we hadn’t actually chosen any of it. We answered the call, but it wasn’t ours. We had followed the threads into someone else’s story, a story dictated by society, and it was killing us.

Like many passionate and powerful women, we felt the pressure to be corporate bulldogs, to work harder, achieve more, show no weakness and never back down.

After bending to this pressure, we were then told that we were too loud, too opinionated, too intense and too much. So, like “good girls” we did our best to squeeze into the tiny boxes of expectation others had created, making ourselves smaller and behaving “as we should.”

It worked extremely well, you know, until it didn't. Until the whole situation gave us whiplash and buried us alive.

So, like good Type-A's, we grabbed our highlighters and initiated:

Operation Get Better.

Our strategic plan included reading every book, listening to every podcast, attending every class, webinar, forum and retreat, trying to find the tools that would liberate us from suffering. We assembled a team of therapists, coaches, healers and teachers in the hopes of completing the project as quickly and efficiently as possible.

After a few years, we had made gains, but we needed more.

Operation Get Better was not yet complete.

Martha Beck’s Wayfinder Life Coach training was clearly the next step (we told you we were overachievers). We discovered that you can do ALL the work, but it is far more effective (and enjoyable) to tackle hard things with a sense of play. We dove in head first (obviously) and what we learned changed the game.

The Meaning Behind the Name

What’s in a name? Ohhh so very much! Metaphor, symbolism, and ritual each play an important role in who we are and what we do. So, when we decided to join forces to create a coaching business, we knew the name needed to have as much depth and meaning as the work we do.

We descended down a Google hole that ran deep, and after a crazy amount of research and many a late night brainstorm, we emerged with a name steeped in everything from science to mysticism.

Mystics say that copper is the element of women’s power, and is known to combat non-acceptance of one’s self. It reveals the barriers which stand in the path of development.

Copper has enormous implications in science and medicine; acting as both a grounding element and a conductor of energy. Like our clients, it’s malleable. It’s a resilient metal, resistant to corrosion, transforming its appearance to reflect the unique path it has traveled. This shapeshifter transforms from turquoise and blues, to pinks, reds and bright greens, with each new hue unabashedly telling its story.

We believe in the power of story and see each thread of experience as a guide wire that leads to your purpose and truth. Our role is to help you find your copper thread, the one that can set you free. And so, Copper Thread Coaching was born, and with it, a safe space to explore and play with all of the threads that make you, you.

It’s time to claim the magic that has always been inside, and embrace the rainbow of colours in your story.

Everyone deserves to find their free. We’ve got you covered. Book a discovery call.
